Awards

Each year, the Altrusa Club of Reading-Berks presents the following awards and scholarships:

Altrusa Award recognizes an individual who has lead the way in the betterment of his / her community.

Outstanding Community Service Award is presented to a Berks County business, industry or organization for exemplary community service.

Scholarship Awards - $1,500 scholarship is given to a full time student who demonstrates financial need and is enrolled in a Berks County College or University.  The 2009-2010 award went to Janet Lamborn, a student attending RACC.

Altrusa Scholarship Award - $500 scholarship is given to a Reading High School senior who is committed to community service and will pursue a degree in higher education.  The 2009 recipient is Jonathan Gehring.

Science Fair Awards - $50 savings bonds are presented to a female and mail student with the second highest point total in the natural and physical sciences categories of the Junior Division of the Berks County Science Fair.  The  2009 winners were Greg Scanlon, 8th grade student at St. Ignatius School and Lucy Wolfe, 6th grade student at Green Valley Elementary School.

Albright College Psychology Award - $50 presented to a graduating senior with highest academic excellence in psychology. Presented annually since the year 2000.
